Good to know
Questions, answered
The things Nottinghamshire movers ask us most — coverage, pianos, storage, timing, and how our European moves work. If yours isn’t here, just ask.
The basics
Moving with us
Which parts of Nottinghamshire do you cover?
All of it. Nottingham and the suburbs — West Bridgford, Arnold, Beeston, Carlton — out to Mansfield and the Ashfield towns, across to Newark and Southwell in the east, and up to Worksop and Retford in the north. If it is in the shire, we cover it, and we move out from there to anywhere in the UK or Europe.
Do you move businesses as well as homes?
Yes. Alongside house moves we handle office and commercial relocations across the county — planned around your trading hours so you lose as little working time as possible. Everything is labelled and mapped to its new home before it is lifted.
Can you move a piano?
We can — it is one of our specialisms. Uprights, grands and baby grands need the right kit, the right technique and people who have done it before. We move pianos on their own or as part of a full house move.
I only have a few things to move — is that too small?
Not at all. Our man-and-van service is made for single items, part-loads and small flat moves. You get the same insured, careful crew as a full house move, sized to the job.
How soon can you come out?
Give us your rough dates and we will come back promptly with availability. We keep some room for short-notice work, so it is always worth asking even if your move is close.
How do I get a price?
Use the quote form with your pickup and drop-off addresses and a little about the load, or give us a call. We will review it and reply by email with a clear written quote — no obligation, and no guesswork over the phone.
Pianos, storage & clearances
The trickier jobs
What does moving a piano actually involve?
The right kit and the right hands. We use a proper piano trolley and skid board, protect the case, and where needed take the legs and pedals off a grand to move it safely on its side. Uprights, baby grands and full grands are all handled with care, on their own or within a house move.
Can you store our things between moving out and moving in?
Yes — it is one of the most common things we help with. When completion dates don’t line up, your load can sit securely in storage and come back out on our van when your new place is ready.
Do you help with house clearances?
We do, and we know they often come at difficult times. We are patient and respectful, we can store what you want to keep, and we sort the rest responsibly.
Europe
International moves
How does an international move from Nottinghamshire work?
We survey and pack your home here in the shire, make the inventory for customs, then load and drive it down through the Channel crossing to your new country and address. Your written quote sets out the route and what affects the timing — customs clearance and consolidation both play a part.
Do you deal with the customs paperwork?
Yes. A move to the EU needs an inventory and the right customs documentation, and where you are moving your main home a Transfer of Residence can allow used household goods in without duty. We prepare the paperwork we handle and guide you through the rest.
Can you take a part-load rather than a whole house?
Often, yes. On the European routes we can consolidate your goods with other moves heading the same way, which suits second homes and smaller loads. It affects scheduling, and we will explain how it works for your route.
Where in the UK can you collect from before heading to Europe?
Nottinghamshire is our base, but we regularly collect from across the East Midlands and beyond — Leicester, Derby, Sheffield, Lincoln, Nottingham itself — before the load runs south to the crossing.
